1, shape the trunk of the clay figurine, first make the standing pedal, and then shape the legs. The feet and legs of pottery figurines are made into thick tires by heap molding, and the surface is scratched. Fighter legs are divided into two types: thin legs. Thin legs are solid and thick legs are mostly hollow. The trunk is made of mud strips, and then made into clothes and armor of different textures by gluing, pinching and carving.
2. The molding method of figurine head is complicated. Generally, a green tire is made with the help of a mold to shape the back of the head, and then ears, a bun, a braid and a crown are attached to depict the details of the five senses. The beard is pasted with mud strips and then carved. After the trunk of the terracotta warriors and horses is formed on a large scale, let it dry in the shade for a period of time, and then stick the arms together. Most of the arms are hollow and some are solid.
The next step is to insert the hand of the figurine. Hands are made separately. The doll hand and doll arm are nested and connected. That is, before the mud dries, drill a small hole, put it together, and then fix it with mud nails. Ma Tao's production is also made up of parts and combinations. Horsehead molding, horse ears, flying bristles and other accessories are kneaded. The neck and body cavity of a horse are hollow, and the body cavity is divided into four sections: buttocks, abdomen, shoulders and chest, and each section is made up of several pieces of mud.
4. Clay figurines and clay horses are made of local loess and quartz sand. After screening, grinding and washing, impurities in the soil are removed, making the mud fine and pure in color.
5. The roasting temperature in the kiln is between 950- 1050℃. Due to the uneven thickness of terracotta warriors and horses, the weight of each terracotta warrior is also very different. In addition to mastering the temperature, craftsmen also took some measures during the production process. For example, try to reduce the thickness of clay tires, and then leave fire holes and air holes in appropriate parts of pottery figurines and horses.
