Henan Oilfield 1970 started exploration. In August, industrial oil gas flow was discovered in Dongliwan structure of Nanyang sag in Nanxiang Basin. In May, Nanyang Petroleum Exploration Headquarters was formally established, 1972, and was later renamed Henan Petroleum Exploration Bureau.

The development campaign of Henan Oilfield was held on 1 May, 9771day, and the national crude oil production in the following year was1670,000 tons, which contributed to the national crude oil annual output at that time. The name of Henan Oilfield was engraved on the China Millennium Monument in Beijing.

It may be these two reasons, but the name Wuyi Oilfield is not used much now, but there is a Wuyi community in Henan Oilfield now.
