From Tangshan to Xugezhuang, there is no way to build the canal because of the terrain. With Li Hongzhang's efforts, he was finally allowed to build a railway, but he was restricted to drive steam locomotives, and the vehicles could only be pulled by mules and horses. The railway started in June of 188 1 and was completed in June of the same year, with a total length of about 10 km. The chief engineer of the railway is an Englishman, Jinda. He uses a standard rail, which weighs per meter 15 kg and costs 1 12000 silver.

This railway was later acquired by Kaiping Railway Company, the first railway company in China, and later renamed China Railway Corporation, with Wu as the chairman. The southern section of the railway 1887 extends to Tianjin and was opened to traffic in August 1888. The northern section was allowed to extend to Shanhaiguan, and 1893 was opened to traffic; Tang-Xu Railway was also renamed as "Jin-Yu Road". Later, "China Railway Corporation" was reorganized into "Railway Corporation", which was responsible for the railway construction inside and outside the customs. Jinyu Road will gradually develop into the present Beijing-Shenyang Railway in the future.

Tangxu Railway Tangxu Railway is not the earliest railway in China. The first railway in China was Wusong Railway built in Shanghai in 1876, with a total length of 14.5 km. It was built by the British in the name of building an "ordinary highway" without the consent of the government. It was bought back and demolished, and rebuilt twenty years later.

Xinyi railway

Before the completion of the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway, there was a Xinyi Railway from Xincheng to Gaobeidian in China, which was also built by Zhan Tianyou, but it was only used by Empress Dowager Cixi for ancestor worship.

Zhangjing railway

Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway connects Fengtai, Beijing, passes through Juyongguan, Shacheng and Xuanhua to Zhangjiakou, Hebei, with a total length of about 20 1.2km. /kloc-completed in 0/909, it is the first railway in China that was completed and put into operation by China people without using foreign funds and personnel. Zhan Tianyou used to be the chief engineer of railway construction, and later served as the general manager of Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway Bureau.

Jing-Zhang Railway is the one with lower cost selected by Zhan Tianyou from the three routes he personally surveyed. From Xizhimen to Zhangjiakou, it passes through Shahe, Nankou, Juyongguan, Badaling, Huailai, Ji Ming Post and Xuanhua. The most difficult part of this route is the Guangou section from Nankou to Badaling, which is not only steep in terrain but also steep in slope. In Badaling, near Qinglong Bridge, in order to cross the steep ravine of Dujun Mountain in Yanshan Mountains, the 22-kilometer section of the line adopts a herringbone track, and the train climbs by turning back. However, the slope is still 33.7‰, and two locomotives are needed for traction. There are four tunnels on the railway, of which Badaling Tunnel is1.092m long, and it is excavated by shaft method. Juyongguan tunnel is 400 meters long. In addition, there is a 200-meter-long Huailai Bridge with steel frame structure.

Jing-Zhang Railway started on September 4th 1905 and was completed on August 6th 1 1,1opened to traffic on October 2nd, 65438. The construction time has been shortened by two years. Moreover, the construction cost is 352,000 silver less than the original budget.

Today's Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway is the first section of beijing-baotou railway between Beijing and Baotou. Due to the poor carrying capacity of the original Jinggou section of Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway, 65438 to 0952 sand-rich lines were built between Fengtai and Shacheng (Huailai). The Fengsha Line took the route that Zhan Tianyou thought was better at that time, but it was forced to give up because of the high cost. Fengsha line has always been an important place for coal transportation. 1972 fengsha line was converted into double track, 1984 electrified. Now many passenger trains have been diverted to the Fengsha line. Agree 22| Comment
