Lei Haizong (1902- 1962) is a famous historian at home and abroad. He has been engaged in history teaching and research in colleges and universities all his life. He is famous for his profound knowledge, strong memory, self-contained system and familiarity with ancient and modern China and foreign countries. He was listed in the volume of Foreign History of the Encyclopedia of China. Generally speaking, Lei Haizong's academic thought and career can be divided into two stages: before liberation and after liberation, and each stage can be divided into two periods: around 1937 and around 1957.
