Have you ever been to the ancient city of Roo-Lee-ah (the burial place of former ruler Cthulhu) in your sleep? Have you ever seen a huge figure at the bottom of the sea? When eating octopus, do you have such fantasies: look! I bit Cthulhu in my mouth! Have you read The King of Secrets? All of the above have the background of Cthulhu myth. So, do you really know what Cthulhu is?

Cthulhu is one of the famous old dominators in the myth created by Lovecraft. He is famous for his octopus-like image and the fact that the British Empty Ear Party heard that empty ears always send sugar. Regarding the Cthulhu myth, I think Lovecraft's Cthulhu myth only puts forward a concept and outline. The real content needs to be supplemented by later generations, so I refer to most of Cthulhu's world outlook works, except some third-rate works such as The Old Dominator vs. Ancient Gods.

Reasons for the Rise of Cthulhu Myth

Myths and legends are ancient people's explanations of unknown things, such as Lei Gong Dian Mu and Qu Yuan's Tian Wen. The myth of Cthulhu represents modern people's re-understanding of their own existence and their rebellion against the omnipotence of science and technology. Macroscopically, Cthulhu's creation is an inevitable trend of thought.

Cthulhu's worldview is a fantasy from the perspective of scientific and rational exploration, not a romantic epic story, which gives readers the feeling of coldness and darkness. Different from fantasy fairy tales, the contact between God and people is usually romantic, bizarre and mysterious, while the myth of Cthulhu is tenacious, contemptuous and tyrannical. This is why all the evil gods exist in the Cthulhu myth written by Lovecraft himself. In my opinion, evil spirits are not really evil in nature (although they may be evil in nature), but from a human point of view, they will be evil. Because of the great differences in life forms and levels, God's attitude towards people can be imagined. Do you feel sorry for stepping on an ant? Maybe you don't even know if you stepped on an ant.

From this perspective, we can also infer why human beings become ignorant and even crazy when facing the old dominator. When ants living in a two-dimensional world see a three-dimensional human world, will two-dimensional creatures understand three-dimensional creatures? This is beyond its cognition, so the whole Cthulhu universe is dark and can't see the light. Generally speaking, God is just a creature that is more advanced than ordinary human beings in life form, but it is impossible to explore with the level of human science and technology. The more you read the myth of Cthulhu, the more you will feel that ignorance is really a kind of happiness. Of course, that's in Cthulhu's worldview, and it's best to have proper curiosity in real life.

The structure of the old dominator

Not only that, just as every monarch has many followers, every old ruler has his own followers behind him. Different from the followers of human society, the followers of the old rulers are more divided or created by the old rulers themselves, and these followers are also called mythical creatures.

As for the family members of the old dominator, I won't introduce them here, but I can put them in the next article when I have time.

So to some extent, the status relationship in the Cthulhu system is more similar to that in early human society. Of course, the setting in the Cthulhu galaxy is that the old dominator arrived on the earth earlier than the time when humans appeared. Therefore, only early humans had a certain understanding of the old dominator, and all the well-known myths were handed down from the past.

Many gods in Cthulhu mythology

According to all the Cthulhu myths that have been created, they are mainly divided into external gods (the most primitive and powerful old dominators), ordinary old dominators and ancient gods (the primitive gods of the earth). The early external gods were Athatos, Shab Nicholas, Sog· sotos and Nyala Totip. They are famous for their masters of all things and rulers of time and space, Sen Black Goat and Nyaruko?

Nyala Totip has the most frequent contact with human beings, and always has many incarnations. Most people have secondary processing on this feature, such as Nyaruko and Nyaruko. Of course, this also contributed to the spread of Cthulhu myth in the second dimension, but is it really good to be so obsessed with an evil god?

Historically, the old rulers have been hostile to the ancient gods. Later, due to the change of the position between the stars, the old dominator fell into a deep sleep and was in a state of chaos, guarded by the ancient gods. But the old dominator can still communicate with human beings with strong spiritual strength through dreams or dramas, and be awakened by magical believers when the stars are functioning normally.

In the past, Cthulhu, Cthugha, Hasta, etc. Is the dominator, the well-known king in yellow is the incarnation of Hasta walking outside when he was imprisoned.

abstract

Therefore, according to my personal summary, Lovecraft's Cthulhu worldview fully shows that the real fear is the smallness of human beings, the ruthlessness of God and man, and the unknown, while the vastness, madness and chaos of the universe are eternal. It is a reflection on the way of thinking that human beings can conquer nature (not to say that it is not good for human beings to conquer nature, but it will really have a great impact if it reaches the top, such as during the Great Leap Forward).

Of course, the cupid craft only wrote a framework, and some contents in the perfection of later generations are not recognized. I just wrote what I thought was reasonable. If you think there is something wrong with my content, you can also leave a message below to discuss it.

As a new team, we are very inexperienced and may have various omissions. Please be merciful and give feedback. Thank you very much
