Was there cancer in ancient times?
Speaking of cancer, as early as the Song Dynasty in the 2nd century (1 170), Dong Xuan lay man wrote Wei Jibao, in which the term "cancer" was mentioned. The word "cancer" didn't appear in traditional dictionaries such as Kangxi Dictionary, and it didn't officially appear in Ci Yuan and China Dictionary until 19 15, explaining that "cancer" is a malignant tumor.

Some people think that terrible cancer is a disease discovered in modern times. In fact, cancer was recorded in ancient times.

As early as the beginning of the third century, there were records of cancer cases in Wang Shuhe's "Pulse Meridian", and malignant tumors were called cancer in Chinese medicine. In A.D. 1264, Yang Shiying gave a more detailed description of cancer in Ren Zhai's Appendix Theory: "The cancer patients are tall and deep, in the shape of caves ... The poison roots are deep and penetrate the acupoints, mostly in the abdomen, but mostly in the chest, neck or shoulders or arms, indicating coma." Its description accords with modern clinical diagnosis. Because the ancients didn't know much about the pathology and metastasis of cancer, they only knew that cancer was hard and sunken like a rock, and the poison root was deeply embedded in the body. In ancient times, stones and rocks were common, so adding the word "disease" became the word "cancer". The book Authentic Surgery in the Ming Dynasty also talked about "lip cancer" growing on the lips, saying that it grew up like beans at first, and its texture was hard and difficult to treat. It was believed that the inducing reasons were not only mental anxiety and impatience, but also local factors such as frequent eating of fried food and roasting. /kloc-The book "Guidelines for Choosing Medical Care" at the beginning of the 0/7th century also recorded a case of male breast cancer in detail, saying that the patient was depressed because he failed several "museum examinations". Later, a small amount of juice often flowed from the left nipple. Soon, a lump was found beside the nipple, which gradually increased and festered at the tip of the rock.

From this point of view, ancient doctors had a considerable understanding of cancer.
