What are the four furnace cities?
The four stove cities refer to Chongqing, Fuzhou, Hangzhou and Nanchang.

Sizao refers to the four hottest cities in China, and is the name of the four hottest cities in China in summer. Stove city is an exaggerated name for a city with hot weather in summer in China, taking heat index, high temperature days, continuous high temperature days, average maximum and minimum temperatures in summer as consideration factors.

Furnace cities are generally concentrated in the Yangtze River basin in southern China and the Huanghuai area in northern China. Chongqing, Wuhan, Nanjing and other cities in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River are often sultry in summer, mainly due to the long-term high temperature and high humidity weather controlled by the western Pacific subtropical high in summer. Especially in the middle and late July and early August, the subtropical high is generally maintained in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and its vicinity, making these areas sweltering.

Northern stove

With the global warming, the high temperature weather in the northern region gradually appears, and it is no less than that in the southern cities. The high temperature in the north is different from that in the south. The high temperature in the north appears in June and July every year, while that in the south is in July and August. There are two main areas in the north that are prone to high temperature. The first area is Turpan basin in Xinjiang and southern Xinjiang. Turpan area is known as "Fire State". It is no exaggeration to say that the Flame Mountain is in this area.

Moreover, Turpan has always maintained the record of the highest temperature in the country. The second area is North China Plain and Huanghuai area. The main cities are Beijing, Tianjin, Shijiazhuang, Jinan, Zhengzhou and Xi 'an. Although these six cities are located in the north, the intensity of high temperature still makes many cities in the south stunned.

Their historical maximum temperature can reach or even exceed 40℃, of which Zhengzhou reached 43.0℃ in July of 1966, and only Chongqing's historical maximum temperature of 43.0℃ in the south can match it, so the high temperature weather in the north has gradually attracted attention.
