The characteristics of the four ancient Chinese academies;

1, independent

As an independent educational institution, the academy is not under the official jurisdiction, and its teaching content and methods are more free and flexible. The teaching activities of the academy were not influenced by politics at that time, but focused on cultivating students' independent thinking and autonomy. Academies were free to choose teaching content, arrange courses and invite famous scholars to give lectures, which provided a platform for students to learn and communicate freely at that time.

2. Academic nature

Academy is an institution with academic research and lectures as its main tasks, which has a strong academic atmosphere and spirit. Academies pay attention to the teaching and research of Confucian classics, as well as the education of history, poetry and philosophy. The academic research of the academy has also been valued and supported by rulers and well-known scholars in past dynasties.

Step 3 make it public

The college pays attention to the openness and inclusiveness of teaching and academic research, and encourages students to think and debate freely. The teaching methods and contents of the academy are also more open, not limited by the mainstream ideas and schools at that time. The academy also pays attention to absorbing foreign cultures and ideas, and invites scholars from different schools and regions to exchange and give lectures, thus promoting academic exchanges and cultural integration.
