Guan Yu was born in Xiexian County, Hedong County (now Xiezhou Town, Yanhu District, Yuncheng City, Shanxi Province). A famous soldier in the Three Kingdoms period at the end of Han Dynasty. After Guan Yu's death, people honored him as "Guan Gong", which was praised and sealed by the imperial courts in previous dynasties. During the Yongzheng period of the Qing Dynasty, he was honored as a "warrior sage", which was equivalent to Confucius "Wen Sheng". In the novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms, he ranks first among the "five tigers and generals" and uses the dragon crescent moon blade.
