In the history of China, how many emperor's father appeared in total?
Tai Shang Huang is a special title in ancient times. Since Qin Shihuang revered his father as the emperor's father, there have been 23 emperor's fathers in the history of China. They are:

King Xiang of Qin Zhuang was conferred by Qin Shihuang as Emperor Tai Shang, Liu Zhijia, Liu Bangfu, Emperor Gaozu of Han Dynasty, Sima Zhong, grandnephew of Zhao Lun, and Zhao usurped the throne to stand on his own feet, and later became the reclusive king Lu Shaofu, the Northern Wei Emperor Tuoba Hong, the Northern Wei Emperor Hongfu, the Northern Wu Emperor Gao Zhan, the Northern Qi Emperor Gao Wei Fu, the Northern Qi Emperor Gao Wei, and the Northern Qi Emperor Gao Wei.

Famous examples:

In the history of China, the first monarch who directly ceded the throne to his son before his death was King Wuling of Zhao in the Warring States Period. After passing the throne to his son King Huiwen, he called himself "father", but he still presided over military affairs, just like the later emperor's father.

The father of the first emperor in the history of China was Qin Zhuangxiang, the father of Qin Shihuang. However, Qin Zhuang did not claim to be the emperor, nor did he claim to be the emperor's father before his death. Since then, except for Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty, Li Jing, the father of Laozi, has been honored as the emperor's father.

Again, there is no example of being chased as the emperor's father after death; Liu Taigong, the father of Liu Bang, Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, was the first person to be honored as the Emperor's Father at birth. He is also the only person in the history of China who is not an emperor but is honored as the emperor's father. The last emperor of the Qing Dynasty and China was Emperor Gaozong.

Except for some emperors who were ousted from the throne by force, in general, most Neichan emperors can get the title of "Tai shang huang".

In the history of China, many meditations seemed to be conducted in a peaceful way, but in fact, emperors abdicated under the circumstances rather than voluntarily, such as Tang Gaozu, Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty and Song Guangzong.

Only a few Tai shang huang, who had meditated internally, still held real power, such as Xuan Di in the Northern Zhou Dynasty, Song Gaozong and Emperor Gaozong in the Qing Dynasty. After the Northern Wei Dynasty offered Emperor Wen to meditate, he accepted the title of "Tai Huang" suggested by ministers to show that he still ruled the world, which was different from the "Tai Huang" who did not govern the world like Liu Taigong.

In the history of China, the dynasty with the most emperors was the Southern Song Dynasty, and three emperors, Song Gaozong, Song Xiaozong and Song Guangzong, successively abdicated and became emperors.

Because the emperor's father is not an inherent system in China's traditional politics, its appearance is usually accompanied by major historical events: for example, in the rebellion of the Eight Kings in the Western Jin Dynasty, Zhao threatened his nephew Jin Huidi, and later succeeded him as emperor, and Zhao called Jin Huidi the emperor's father; Ming Yingzong of the Ming Dynasty was captured by the Hu people in the civil war, because Yu Qian and other ministers of the Ming Dynasty made his younger brother Wang emperor, and Yingzong became the father of the emperor.
