Mu is a fictional character in the novel, which comes from Xiong's novel Biography of Northern Song Dynasty in Ming Dynasty and Ji Zhenlun's novel Romance of Yangjiafu. Later, Yang Jiajiang was adapted into a drama and a TV series, so Mu Guiying became a household name.

Mu Guiying and Yang Jiajiang fought side by side and made great achievements. 100-year-old She Taijun led 12 survivors' daughters-in-law to Xixia under the command. 53-year-old Mu, with a pioneer seal, went deep into danger, fought tenaciously and won a great victory. She is a model heroine image in Chinese popular literature.
