The discipline of literature and art in China Renmin University started with the "Literature Research Class" founded by 1959. At that time, Zhou Yang was the honorary director, and He Qifang and He Luo were the main leaders. "Literature Research Class" has trained a large number of academic backbones of literary theory for the country, and strived to build a Marxist literary theory and criticism system with China characteristics. This discipline was awarded the right to master's degree in 1984, and the right to doctor's degree in 1993. In 2006, it was a national key discipline in 5438+0, and was evaluated again in 2007. Since 5438+0 in 2006, six postdoctoral researchers have been recruited and trained.
After the long-term efforts of several generations of scholars, this subject is based on its own tradition, characteristics and style, further refining the research direction and integrating academic resources. Based on four research directions: basic theory of literature and art, Marxist literary theory, literary trend of thought and literary criticism, and cultural research, it extends two research directions: comparative poetics and western literary theory of related disciplines, and ancient literary theory and aesthetic culture of China, which makes the whole discipline reach a new level through the academic structure with complementary advantages and be in a leading position to some extent.
In terms of basic research, this discipline adheres to the Marxist stand and method, and incorporates the latest theoretical development into the discipline construction of China's literature and art. We have published a number of academic monographs in Heidegger's poetics, philosophical hermeneutics, theological hermeneutics, psychoanalysis, phenomenological aesthetics and criticism, Marxist literature and art, cultural theory and criticism, etc. At the same time, we also pay attention to the modern interpretation of China's ancient literary theory, actively participate in the study of China's contemporary literary criticism and literary trend of thought, and have made great progress.
In applied research, this discipline participated in the drafting of the General Plan of Cultural System Reform and the Outline of Cultural Development in China by the Propaganda Department of the Communist Party of China, and the theoretical research of cultural industry also had a certain impact on the development of national cultural industry.
In the construction of academic platform, the discipline has held many high-standard international and domestic academic conferences and frequent academic exchanges. This discipline has also hosted three academic collections, such as Research on Marxist-Leninist Literary Theory and Research on Problems and Culture, and edited two academic monthly magazines, such as Copying Newspapers and Materials by the National People's Congress and Research on Literary Theory and Culture.

After the appearance of new characters, Wu and others used new characters to carry out literacy among workers in China and the Far East of the Soviet Union. Soon, new Chinese characters were introduced into China, and a nationwide campaign to learn new Chinese characters began. After the outbreak of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, Wu returned to China and successively served as the president of Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region New Characters Association and the principal of Yan 'an New Characters Cadre School. After the founding of New China, Wu successively served as President of China Character Reform Association, Deputy Director of China Character Reform Research Committee and Director of China Character Reform Committee, directly leading the national character reform work. Wu has formed his own set of theories on Chinese character research and character reform in the practice of Chinese character research and character reform for decades, which has had a far-reaching influence in the field of Chinese character research and character reform. On February 1960, China Renmin University established the China Institute of Language and Literature, with President Wu as its director. The History of Modern Literature in China and Tang Tao and Yan Jiayan were the most widely used textbooks in domestic universities at that time. Through the efforts of two generations of scholars, by the 1960s and 1980s, this discipline had developed into one of the few influential disciplines with complete professional direction and orderly echelon in China.
198 1, the discipline awarded the first master's degree, and * * * enrolled more than 20 master's students, including Japanese and Korean students. After 2002, it began to recruit doctoral students in the direction of "modern literary thoughts"; After 2006, it expanded to three professional directions: modern literature in China, contemporary literature in China and modern literature trend of thought.

(8) cinematography
In order to adapt to the new development pattern of contemporary film and television culture, the College of Literature reorganized its research strength on film and television and new media art on the basis of the original literature and art discipline, and established the teaching and research section of film and television and new media art in February 2004. There are 2 professors, 2 associate professors and lecturer 1 person.
This subject is one of the most promising majors in the College of Liberal Arts, with a group of experts and scholars who have been engaged in the teaching and research of film and television and new media for a long time. Among them, Professor Pan presided over or participated in a number of national and provincial major scientific research projects, and achieved fruitful scientific research results. Young and middle-aged teachers such as Dr. Yang Chen and Dr. Sun Bai have published many important papers and their own academic monographs in domestic core journals. Based on the basic theory and criticism of film and television, scientific research pays attention to and tracks the important influence of contemporary high-tech media on audio-visual art, and the influence of the spread and development of new art forms represented by audio-visual media on social and cultural construction. Study the symptoms and characteristics of the above-mentioned cultural phenomena, and make an in-depth summary from a theoretical height in time.
