I believe everyone knows that Anhui Province is also an important province in East China. Although Anhui is about the same size as Jiangsu, its latitude and geographical location are similar, there are many provinces bordering Anhui, and northern Anhui borders Shandong and Henan, so the culture in northern Anhui is also close to the Central Plains culture, while southern Anhui, such as Huizhou and Huangshan, is close to Jiangxi and Zhejiang, which is also an authentic Jiangnan culture. Most of Anhui borders on Jiangsu cities, so many people joked that Anhui is also a province with a hundred flowers blooming in the north and south. Many places once belonged to Anhui, but now they belong to neighboring provinces, such as Wuyuan, Xuyi and Yongcheng.
Yongcheng county is now under the jurisdiction of Henan. Although it still borders Anhui, it is not under the jurisdiction of Anhui administratively. In ancient times, Yongcheng always belonged to Henan. Therefore, in retrospect, Yongcheng actually has nothing to do with Anhui. During the Sui and Tang Dynasties, Yongcheng was included in today's Bozhou, and it was indeed managed by Anhui for a while, but in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Yongcheng was once again included in Henan Province. Therefore, this county is a constantly changing administrative region. By the time of the Republic of China, part of Yongcheng was transferred to Henan and part to Anhui, and the whole county was always in a state of division.
In the early years of the founding of the People's Republic of China, Yongcheng County was not included in Shangqiu area, but was directly placed under the management of northern Anhui. At that time, northern Anhui and southern Anhui were managed separately, just like northern Jiangsu and southern Jiangsu. Because the war was not completely over at that time, Yongcheng was also placed in northern Anhui, just as Xuzhou was once placed in Shandong. To 1952, because northern Anhui and southern Anhui have merged into a new one. So Yongcheng county returned to Henan from Anhui at this time. In fact, this situation is very common in Huaihai area. For example, Xiaoxian County and Dangshan Mountain originally belonged to Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province, and later were assigned to Anhui Province, and Anhui also assigned its own Xuyi and Sihong to Jiangsu.
