2. More than 2,000 colored sculptures are preserved in Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes. These colorful sculptures have distinct personalities and different expressions. There are kind-hearted bodhisattvas, majestic kings, strong and brave warriors, and a reclining Buddha with a length of 16 meters. Lying on the Buddha's side, his eyes closed slightly and his expression was serene. This vivid color sculpture makes us have to admire the superb skills of ancient artists.
3. The most abundant part of Dunhuang grottoes art is mural painting, which is called "library on the wall" by western scholars and has high artistic value. These murals are painted on the walls of caves and shrines. The content of murals is rich and colorful, and the most striking thing is the hundreds of flying skies. Look at those flying postures, how beautiful! Some have flower baskets on their arms and pick flowers; Some embrace the pipa and gently pluck the strings; Some ribbons are flying all over the sky; Some closed their eyes and listened attentively to Tian Fei, which was bred by Indian culture, Western culture and Central Plains culture, and was a synthesis of various cultures. Today, Tian Fei has become a business card of Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes and a symbol of Dunhuang art.
4. Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes, Yungang Grottoes in Datong, Shanxi, Longmen Grottoes in Luoyang, Henan, and Maijishan Grottoes in Tianshui, Gansu are also called "Four Grottoes in China". It is the largest, oldest, richest and best-preserved treasure house of Buddhism and grottoes in China and even in the world.
