The development of history

Tangshan has a long history. As early as 40 thousand years ago, human beings worked and lived in Zhaocun site.

The Shang Dynasty was an isolated bamboo country, the Warring States was a Yan country, and the Han Dynasty was a closed country.

The Tang Dynasty was named after Emperor Taizong's eastward expedition to Koguryo, Li Shimin.

In the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Yongping Prefecture and Zunhua Zhili Prefecture.

In the second year of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty (1876), Li Hongzhang sent Tang, general manager of China Merchants Bureau, to survey Kaiping Town with Maris, an American miner, and the survey result was very good. Tang Shuting reported to Li Hongzhang that he thought it would be a great success to employ foreign craftsmen and adopt western methods to mine iron ore. 1877, Li Hongzhang appointed Tang to be responsible for the mining of Kaiping Coal Mine. So, Kaiping Mining Bureau was established in that year, and bought land to build houses and machines at Qiaotou Tun. With the development of coal mines, the population has increased and businessmen have flourished. 1878, Qiaotoutun was upgraded to a town (Qiaotou Town), parallel to Kaiping Town.
