The exchange between China and Laos began in the Three Kingdoms period, when the area near Yunnan in Laos was called "Tang Ming". In the sixth year of Huang Wu's stay in Soochow (227), Tang Ming sent envoys to Soochow to pay tribute. When Tang Gaozong was in China, Zhenla was divided into two countries. The north was called Wendan Country, and its capital was in Wendan City (that is, Vientiane today). Wenshan had a close and friendly relationship with the Tang Dynasty, and sent envoys to the Tang Dynasty four times.
Historically, the trade between China and Laos was very active. China businessmen will go to Laos for trade, and Laos border people will also go to China. In the Ming Dynasty, China people migrated to Laos. During the Yongzheng period of the Qing Dynasty, Nanzhang (Laos) was naturalized in China and became a vassal state of China. However, Nanzhang became a French protectorate in 1893, ending its relationship with China [8]. From 18 to 19 century, overseas Chinese trade had a considerable impact on Laos' economy. Overseas Chinese and Laos live together, which brings a lot of China culture to Laos. For example, many words in Lao are similar to Chinese in pronunciation.
China-Cambodia relations
Cambodia is located in Indochina Peninsula, which was called Funan in ancient times. It is the earliest Indian country in Southeast Asia, and has maintained excellent relations with China in past dynasties. At the end of the 5th century, King Funan sent envoys to pay tribute to the Liang Dynasty in China. Liang Wudi Xiao Yan gave it the title Wang Funan, gave it the name Chen Qiaoru, and gave it a royal robe. Since then, Sino-Cambodian relations have been strengthened day by day, and many Cambodian people have emigrated to Cambodia many times. China's earliest record of Cambodia was in the Western Han Dynasty (654 BC). The most detailed and important records are the books compiled by Kang Tai and Athena Chu during the Wu Dynasty (220-280 AD). In addition, The History Book of Liang Dynasty (502-556 AD), The History Book of Sui Dynasty, The Book of New Tang Dynasty, A Brief History of Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, Taiping Yulan, Taiping Ji and Tongdian, some China historical materials recorded the history of Cambodian Funan, Zhenla and Angkor Dynasty.
