Most of the scenes of The Merchant of Shang Hong were shot in Hongjiang District, Huaihua, Hunan Province, and the scenes were set in Hongjiang Ancient Mall, Hengyan Bamboo Sea Scenic Area, Tianzhu Peak Waters in Shui Yuan, Hongjiang Porcelain Factory and so on. Many scenes such as "Liuyoufang" and "Liyoufang" were built on the abandoned site of the old porcelain factory, and "Shuike Caotang" was also built on the Yuanjiang River.
