Simatai, the best of the Great Wall.
Simatai village is famous for its Great Wall, which is built on a steep hill. It is famous for its five characteristics: danger, density, uniformity, cleverness and completeness. It integrates natural landscape and human landscape, and has rich historical significance. 1987 is listed in the World Heritage List, and it is the only ancient building site in China that retains the original appearance of the Ming Dynasty. It was identified as the "primitive Great Wall" by UNESCO.
It is best to climb simatai on a sunny day. Under the boundless blue sky, you can see the Great Wall bending along the blade-like ridge. You can ride a horse in a wide place, and only one person can pass in a narrow place. When it rises, it looks like a wild tiger, and when it squats, it looks like a hidden dragon in the deep. What's more interesting is that 35 watchtowers of different sizes and shapes are built on various commanding heights according to local conditions, which are magnificent, cold and straight. The watchtower on the Simatai Great Wall has far-reaching historical significance, and its construction is closely related to Qi Jiguang, a famous national hero in China history. 1567, Qi Jiguang, a famous anti-Japanese star in the southeast coast, was transferred to Yanji, and led thousands of soldiers from Yiwu, Zhejiang Province to attack Jiyumen. During the period of North Xinjiang 15, the Great Wall was rebuilt and the military discipline was rectified. The Simatai Great Wall, praised by later generations as "dangerous, dense, strange, ingenious and complete", was originally created by Qi Jiguang when he was in charge of Jizhou's defense. They are built according to the level of garrison, the number of garrison troops and the degree of terrain danger. The enemy's platform helped each other with horns, and it was equipped with artillery, which was enough to resist the northern Tatar cavalry. The perfect combination of aesthetic value and military value is rare in the world.
Among the 35 watchtowers of the Great Wall in Simatai section, two are the most famous-wangjinglou and Fairy Pagoda. Only by seeing them can we truly realize what is the "best of the Great Wall". Wangjinglou is located in the eastern section of Simatai Great Wall. It is built on the top of a mountain, which is the commanding height of Simatai Great Wall, with an altitude of 986 meters. It is a hollow brick eye building with two-story masonry structure. Looking from the bottom up, I saw the broken wall full of historical vicissitudes, standing on the top of a vertically rising mountain called the main peak of Hushan, showing golden yellow under the sunlight. Staring at it for a long time, not only the eyes are stimulated by light, but also the neck is sore. If you look down from the top, the view is extremely broad. When there are no clouds in Wan Li, you can vaguely see the outline of Beijing and enjoy the city lights at night, so it is called wangjinglou. When you climb the stairs, you feel that you are in a place where the sky is high and the clouds are light, and your robe is one of the coolness. Standing on the roof, the majestic mountain is closed, the dragon is winding, full of lofty sentiments and aspirations, and life is fast.
Located on the west side of wangjinglou, Andromeda Tower is the most exquisite one among many watchtowers. It is also located on a steep peak of Tiger Mountain, second only to wangjinglou in elevation. Due to the limitation of the peak area, it can only be built slender, with the north and south sides close to the cliff, the east and west sides leaning against a unilateral wall with a width of only 40 cm, and the two sides of the wall are also cliffs. The lower part of the building is sealed with stones and the upper part is capped with ground bricks. There are two big arches, three tunnels and ten ticket gates made of blue bricks. There is an octagonal algae well in the shape of a spider's web in the center of the top, and there are four brick columns on all sides. There are also two flowers carved on the stone pillar at the entrance, holding a peach. No matter from the overall appearance or internal details, the whole building gives people a sense of exquisiteness, exquisiteness and beauty, as if this is not a defense facility for human war, but a fairyland castle.
Cultural Grand View Qilin Screen Wall
Simatai Great Wall is famous not only for its steep scenery and historical connotation, but also for its grand view of Great Wall culture. Many cultural relics have been found in this section of the Great Wall, the most noteworthy of which is a unicorn shadow wall between the enemy station 13 west of Simatai Great Wall.
Kirin screen wall is 1.99 meters high and more than two meters wide. The lower part of the screen wall is the Sumitomo made of several layers of bricks, the upper part is the tile roof, and the center is the brick carving unicorn map. I saw Kirin's hooves flying in the air, its hips sticking up and its tail sticking up, its mane fluttering, its eyes wide open, its eyes roaring back, and it was heroic and majestic. Kirin is an auspicious animal in China mythology, which means that the world is at peace and everything goes well. It hopes that the nation will be strong and the descendants will multiply, and it gives the generals guarding the city the majestic momentum and strength to defend the peace of one side. On both sides of Kirin are cylindrical brick frames decorated with bamboo knots. Why should the shadow wall in Beijing be combined with the bamboo festival in the south? It is said to have something to do with Zhejiang soldiers who followed Qi Jiguang north. Soldiers are far away from home, expressing their feelings with things, and pinning their long homesickness and full feelings of home and country with bamboo festivals. On the one hand, the shadow wall entrusted the ancient China people's yearning for peace, and also included the soldiers' yearning for their hometown, which was of far-reaching significance. It can be seen that when the ancients built this section of the Great Wall, they were ingenious and skillfully integrated military and aesthetic ideas, making the Simatai Great Wall not only conducive to actual combat, but also a rare artistic masterpiece.
Today, the Simatai Great Wall is not only excellent in daytime scenery, but also the only Great Wall that can be climbed at night. When you climb the Great Wall during the day, you should appreciate the grandeur of Sima Tai. When you climb the Great Wall at night, you can feel the leisure of Simatai. There are orange light belts on both sides of the road, just like Youlong, reminding the border and protecting the safety of tourists; Under the Great Wall is the famous Gubei water town, which is brightly lit, full of music and a paradise on earth. Looking up, the deep blue sky is clear and transparent, without the shelter of tall buildings. The night sky seems to be coming towards people, and the stars and lights complement each other. It is windy in summer, and the Great Wall is steep and unobstructed. The wind is whistling in the ear, as if a brave man guarding the border sang a desolate song for thousands of years. Tourists walk in the lee, with wings under their ribs, and when they look up, they will fall asleep in the wind. There is no unbearable smell of city car exhaust in the snorting room, and the wind is whistling, bringing water vapor from the valley, fresh pine fragrance and perhaps unknown floral fragrance.
Climbing the Great Wall of Simatai at night, you can not only feel the multiple feasts of sight, hearing, smell and touch, but also touch the vicissitudes of masonry in the whimpering wind, and better understand the feelings of ancient border guards. Soldiers from other countries, including Qi Jiguang, may lean against a brick wall one night and think about their own thoughts. Although time passes like running water, the bright moon is still there, the old Great Wall is still there, the once Kirin shadow wall is still there, and the common feelings of mankind are still there. Although the development of science and technology is changing with each passing day, human emotions are interlinked, and the emotions of the ancients, or the determination to homesick or defend the country, can still be touched today.
