Who was the minister in charge of finance in ancient China?
Shangshu, the first of the six books, is equivalent to today's finance minister. This post can be traced back to the Han Dynasty. When Cao Wei set up Shangshu Temple, he was in charge of the overall military expenditure. The Sui Dynasty was called the Minister of Civil Affairs, and since the Tang Dynasty, it was called the Minister of Housing, which was mainly in charge of the national economy, including household registration, taxation, and overall planning of state funds.
