works appreciation

Chen Shidao was poor all his life, and his background was similar to that of Meng Jiao and Jia Dao. He is also a "poet". Chen Liu-shi's Hermit is one of his representative works, which was written about 1086 (the first year of Yuan You).

The first ten sentences of the poem are poetic "quotation", focusing on narration. Chen Liudi, near Bianjing, used to be a land of outstanding people and spirits. Cai Yong, a writer in the Eastern Han Dynasty, and Ruan Ji, one of the "Seven Sages of Bamboo Forest" in the Western Jin Dynasty, all came from here. These two sentences, "After Chen left a word, I suspected that I was a recluse", are very rich in content. Because of the uniqueness of the fitter inherited by Jiang Jigong, the author naturally associates with these historical figures.

The following brushstroke describes the madness of "Chengyin" knife fitter: the income from hard work is a day's living expenses, and Tingting's little daughter and I are drunk. At night, I put my daughter on my shoulder, arranged flowers and played the flute, and my little daughter sang loudly and returned along the long street, where I met those thoughtful crazy people. In the poem, it is not clear whether he is a cynic who "everyone is drunk and I wake up alone" or a different world person who "is carefree once and happy all his life".

The last eight sentences are the poet's own situation and ambition. He is a poor old scholar. Although he is addicted to poetry, he has nothing to rely on. His poems were appreciated by Su Shi and Huang Tingjian. Su and Huang made a name for him, making him a grass corporal living in a remote alley and gaining some fame. The sentence "slightly" is his modesty. Taosun Ao's "Comments" said: "Chen Houshan is like Jiu Hao, alone in the forest, lonely, and does not seek appreciation." This "old student" sentence, in addition to modesty, also has some meaning of "rushing to silence, bring disgrace to oneself".

"It rains behind closed doors for ten days, singing because of hunger and flying kites" is a beautiful sentence in the whole poem. After more than ten days of rain, the eaves collapsed, and after sitting for a long time, I endured hunger, but I still had to lament. This is a true portrayal of his poor life. Because of his poor family, his wife, three sons and one daughter all depend on Zhang Yue for their livelihood. He has personally experienced the pain of where you will go. Now that I am alone, I have achieved nothing in my career, and I can only make a hungry sound in my room. Two sentences describe the poet's poverty and poverty and the situation of finding a sentence behind closed doors. Even though his life is so poor, he still insists on poetry creation. These two sentences are well written, so Huang Tingjian appreciates them very much. Later, Huang Tingjian also wrote a poem "Liu Chen Seal Stone", which was intended to be written by Chen Shidao. There are two sentences "Nourish the frost knife, read the mirror empty", known as "hard to see" (see Wang Zhifan's poem), inspired by Chen Shidao's famous sentence. Huang Tingjian and Chen Shidao are teachers and friends, and they are the real "bosom friends" of Chen Shidao.

The last four sentences express feelings. Poets despise those who write books with poems in vain, but in fact they are thieves. These people are just shameless villains who do the activities of "sending poetry books to the grave". The hermit who stayed in Chen made a living with knives and tongs, but he realized the way of keeping in good health that the poet appreciated. The sentence "Kongtu", code-named "Huai Nan Zi Xiu Wu Xun", means Confucius and Mozi. When they arrived at a place, the chimney left before it was blackened, and the mat got up before it was warm, meaning that they were eager to do things in the world. Suddenly, the chimney. Guizhou, black, here is called blackening. Here, poets use this canon to describe those who have made a fortune in poetry and calligraphy. They just run back and forth for fame and fortune, which is different from Confucius and Mozi, and completely different from the swordsmen in Chen Liushi. This poem blends narrative, ambition and lyricism. The surface is dry and faint, but in fact, the words are very rich.
