Historical origin of dongyang woodcarving.

Dongyang woodcarving originated in Shang and Zhou Dynasties, traced back to Tang Dynasty, developed in Song Dynasty and flourished in Ming and Qing Dynasties. According to documents, there were two Feng brothers in Fenggaolou Village, Dongyang, during the Taihe period of Tang Dynasty. The eldest brother was Jiannan Ambassador and the official was Shangshu. My younger brother, Ding Feng, once served as Minister of Industry and became a rich man with power. Its residence is large in scale and beautifully carved. "The high-rise painting column shines on people's eyes, and its lower porch is several miles and a half."

The architecture of Fengjialou shows that Dongyang woodcarving took shape in the Tang Dynasty. There is no physical object to test the woodcarving before the Song Dynasty. 1On April 24th, 963, the South Temple Tower in the southern suburb of Dongyang County collapsed, from which a Buddha statue of a rich boy and a damaged Guanyin Bodhisattva were found, with a history of over 1000 years, which was an early discovery of Dongyang woodcarving.
