How is the Northeast accent formed?
Northeast accent is the product of immigrants. Since the drought caused victims to come here to make a living during the Qianlong period, there have been several large-scale immigrants in Northeast China. But now the formation of northeastern mandarin mainly comes from two immigrants in the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China, making Chinese the absolute hegemon in Northeast China.

The migration route has influenced the distribution of northeast dialects. There were two early immigration routes: one was by sea, and the main body of immigrants was Shandong people. They crossed the Bohai Sea from Jiaodong Peninsula and boarded Dalian Port. Some settled in eastern Liaoning, and some settled in eastern Jilin and mountainous areas of Heilongjiang via Liaoning.

The second type comes from land, mostly from Hebei, and some from Henan. They left Shanhaiguan, along the western Liaoning corridor, some went north to Heilongjiang, and some settled in western Liaoning and Jilin. There are also some dialect islands and scattered dialect areas, which are also the result of special immigration in history.

The formation of northeastern mandarin is mainly the result of the continuous integration of immigrants from land and sea, which makes the accent of southern Liaoning close to that of Shandong and the accent of western Liaoning close to that of Hebei. Heilongjiang is the final meeting place for immigrants from all over the world. So the farther north you go geographically, the closer you get to the pronunciation of standard Mandarin. When I arrived in Harbin, it was very similar to Mandarin.
