Previously in Shanghai, there was Songjiang County. Songjiang was called Huating in ancient times, also called Yun Jian. Before the opening of Shanghai, Songjiang was the political, economic and cultural center of Shanghai. In history, there is a reputation of "Su (Suzhou) Song (Songjiang) giving wealth for half a day". But at that time, the status of Songjiang was far less than that of Shanghai now, and it was not as high as that of Nanjing and Hangzhou.
