From which dynasty did Shanghai prosper?
The name "Shanghai" came into being after it was opened as a trading port according to the provisions of treaty of nanking.

Previously in Shanghai, there was Songjiang County. Songjiang was called Huating in ancient times, also called Yun Jian. Huating County was located in the Tang Dynasty, renamed Songjiang County in the early Yuan Dynasty and Huating in the Ming Dynasty. It was once the residence of Songjiang Prefecture in Ming and Qing Dynasties, and was once listed as one of the famous 16 big cities in China. Songjiang has been an economically developed area in the south of the Yangtze River since ancient times. Before the opening of Shanghai, Songjiang was the political, economic and cultural center of Shanghai. In history, there is a reputation of "Su (Suzhou) Song (Songjiang) giving wealth for half a day". But at that time, the status of Songjiang was far less than that of Shanghai now, and it was not as high as that of Nanjing and Hangzhou. At the highest, it was only at the government level, and its influence was far less than that of Suzhou.
