I have always been well aware of the past, so now I realize that a semester has passed unconsciously ... history class is over.
Although I only attended less than ten classes, this course really left a deep impression on me and there were more changes in my mind.
(A) the method of learning history
"The story of Noah's Ark, China's legend about' vicissitudes of life', Indian and Mayan cultures and other records about floods give us reason to believe that this is not just a coincidence, maybe it may be true."
There is a tree named Aoki in the Classic of Mountains and Seas, and it is said in Huainanzi that Chengdu is now "just after noon, Aoki has gone."
Write down the summary of the above class content because it gives me a great feeling: history should be studied in this way, so it is also considered learning.
Previous studies were all passive watching or remembering historical events, and I am proud of the amount of memory.
If we go deeper, we will study its influence.
I didn't know it was extremely superficial. Presumably, as human food, duck stuffing should not be complacent because its stomach is full of materials.
But it never occurred to me that history should be like this: Chinese and foreign history should not be considered separately, and the world is organically linked. If we think about them together, we will get more understanding, such as modern history, ancient history and even myths and legends; History is not isolated from other disciplines, but all disciplines including ourselves, so learning to study history and combining the specific knowledge of other disciplines will also get new things.
I always thought that myths and legends were all imagined by the ancients, but "is people's imagination really that strong?" Imagine, let us modern people sit here and imagine what we can imagine.
Indeed, the legend may not be credible, but it may also be groundless and has its roots, which cannot be attributed to people's imagination.
Bold ideas are equally important for studying history.
Many ideas sound ridiculous. When you think about it, when a theory or idea is not proved, most of them are considered impossible, even heresy.
Learning should be brainstorming and finding what you can explain, rather than following other people's advice.
(2) Traditional culture
We learn the history of western countries, take their history as a mirror and learn from them. This is its significance.
Since the Opium War, we have awakened from arrogance and started to pay attention to and learn from the West.
However, compared with Japan, we have to admit their success and reflect on ourselves.
In this learning process, the first thing that still has a very significant impact on us is "May 4th".
After the May 4th Movement, the people of China really suffered an ideological shock.
Intellectuals of the May 4th generation think that democracy and science are the most beautiful things in the world, and westerners have realized modernization and the prosperity of the people and the country by these two things.
They look back at the tradition of China, but they can't see these two things-"Mr. De" and "Mr. Sai", and some are just "Mr. Kong Lao".
Therefore, they think that the reason why China is not modernized is because of the traditional obstacles.
Traditional politics is feudal autocracy, traditional society is that people oppress people, traditional morality is that people eat people, traditional literature is empty, and traditional Chinese characters are too difficult to learn.
In short, to modernize, we must first destroy tradition, transform society, transform ideas, eradicate national inferiority and cultivate new people.
At that time, intellectuals were radical in thought but moderate in action. When learning from the west, they have not forgotten that they are still a member of the Chinese nation, and they maintain their national self, which is a criticism on the basis of inheritance.
"But the latecomers think that resolutely and thoroughly opposing tradition is the content of the new culture movement, and modernization is to abandon tradition.
A simple scientific understanding is that the new is good and the old is bad.
All social customs, religions, fashions, beliefs, etc. It must be measured by scientific standards. If they are unscientific, they will be mercilessly abandoned.
Therefore, we can see that groups of China intellectuals have launched round after round of conquest of China tradition.
The anti-traditional impulse that permeates the whole society naturally permeates the decision-making of the power organs.
-The old city was destroyed by roots and completely rebuilt.
-Traditional customs have been cleaned up and changed on a large scale. "
Correspondingly, the characteristics of the city are gradually disappearing; Compared with political festivals and western festivals, the atmosphere of traditional festivals is getting weaker and weaker, and even tends to be ignored; As a compulsory course in university education, English has passed one level after another, otherwise it will not be awarded a degree. ...
"Intellectuals once mistakenly thought that this was the price they had to pay in order to realize modernization.
However, people are surprised to find that after such rounds of completely anti-traditional cultural and social movements, China did lose many traditions, but did not realize modernization.
We may be even more surprised when we look to neighboring countries and regions.
There has never been a large-scale movement to destroy traditional culture, and traditional morality and social customs have naturally been preserved. However, they are more modern than us.
There, tradition and modernity, native and western, unexpectedly can coexist peacefully and even complement each other. "
Faced with such a situation, I can't help wondering whether it is because of the humiliating history in modern times that China people who have never suffered such a blow have lost their confidence and self while denying themselves. If so, our ancestors have known everything since spring, and I don't know what it feels like ... We should be able to foresee that if we continue to develop, we will truly integrate into the world and be assimilated by the West, and we will lose our own things.
At that time, it was also a time of grief for us. ...
Learn from a painful experience and face up to history! Therefore, we should reflect on tradition, but reflecting on tradition is not anti-tradition, and then destroy tradition. Such tossing will only promote tradition and ourselves.
Reflection should be a process of negation, improvement and affirmation, both of which are indispensable.
Only in this way can we achieve the purpose of inheritance, and only in this way can our nation make great strides.
Perhaps what we should do now should start from here: awaken people's awareness of national traditional culture. ...
