The principle of oral history
Arrange oral materials objectively. Oral materials are based on memory, and due to the deviation of cognitive level and memory, oral materials may be different from the facts. However, when sorting out, researchers should avoid subjective deletion, keep the original appearance of the data, and annotate and demonstrate it. If the oral material conflicts with the written material, it is difficult to distinguish the authenticity, then the two viewpoints should coexist in the material for further study. Organizers should not decide the choice of original oral materials according to their own subjective value standards. For those oral languages that are contemporary and regional, the organizers should not arbitrarily delete or replace the words. Maintaining the originality of oral materials is not only a respect for the narrator and oral materials, but also a respect for the historical activities of the narrator's oral experience and feelings; At the same time, it also leaves an open space for future data users to "continue to be explained".
