1949 the first academic conference on plant pathology was held after the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC), and 1953 the first national congress was held. Dai is the chairman.

There is a technical development committee for pathogenic microorganisms, epidemic and prediction of plant diseases, plant disease resistance breeding, plant physiological prevention and control, and comprehensive prevention and control of soil-borne diseases and plant diseases. The Society organizes professional and comprehensive academic conferences and other academic activities, and has established cooperative relations with botanical societies in Britain, the United States and Japan.
